The first Taste of Shanghai restaurant opened in the Sydney suburb of Ashfield in 2007. Founder Jennifer Du wanted to recreate the happy and memorable dining experiences she had enjoyed growing up with her family and friends in Shanghai. Taking inspiration from the streets and winding laneways, its focus was to bring to life the enjoyment of authentic Shanghainese flavours, traditional dishes and the bustling atmosphere. Since opening, Taste of Shanghai’s range of signature noodles, dumplings, house made xiao long bao, pan fried pork dumplings and classic main courses have become delicious testimony to this pursuit of culinary authenticity served in a welcoming and vibrant meeting place.
